This was about the project I worked on after starting at MTV, since there wasn't any packaging/graphics work for me to do at that moment, the adsales team asked me to help come up with some concepts for a comp spot for the new Rhythm Heaven game for the Nintendo DS (fun game btw!).
Being totally new and confused, and totally out of my element (having moved to a completely new city just a few weeks earlier), I managed to come up with a few measly little bits of isometric pixel art (seen just below this paragraph).
Luckily Jess (also a new uni graduate who had started just a few weeks before me), managed to turn my measly bits of pixel art into a convincing concept pitch to send to Nintendo and, interestingly, the liked it!
At which point I realised that I had never done pixel art before, and pixel art is extremely time consuming, and we had 3 days to complete the ad before it had to go to air.
I poceeded to spend the next full day and night working like a mad dog to bust out some nice pixel elements, ready to animate.
Amazingly the next 3 days went like a perfectly, Jess got the sound mix done, Nintendo approved it without a single revision, and I finished my first commercial on time! phew.
