Mastered by Molly is a short news/gossip segment on MTV Classic in Australia (which just launched last week), featuring Molly Meldrum as he recaps the weeks news and interviews various music artists (the first week being Slash!).
Because everyone in the graphics team was flat out leading
up to the launch of Classic, I had to come up with a concept that could be produced extremely easily and quickly (there was only a few days after the channel launched in which to create the packaging before the first episode went to air).
Since Molly was available during the launch event, we managed to slot in a shoot with him the next morning before flying back to sydney.
I had never actually oganised a shoot before this, so I totally had no idea what to do, and was completely panicking. Thankfully one of my managers, Sven, was there to make sure everything worked, and Marina arranged the studio hire and the DP (Brett Brown) and with Molly's management etc.
I decided to do the 3D in Maya because it's just so much quicker and easier to work and composite with.
